Chokutō/Ninjatō

Chokutō, also known as "直刀" (ちょくとう) in Japanese, is a type of ancient Japanese sword characterized by its straight blade. Unlike the later curved Japanese swords that became more common, the chokutō has an entirely straight blade. Its design was influenced by Chinese swords from the Tang dynasty and was typically used in combat and ceremonial settings. Due to its ancient origins, chokutō is now primarily preserved as a historical artifact and collectible.

Ninjatō, also known as "忍者刀" (にんじゃとう) in Japanese, is a sword traditionally associated with ninjas. It is often depicted as a short, straight blade, in contrast to the curved katana commonly used by samurai. The ninjatō's shorter and straighter design was purportedly suited for use in confined spaces and for easier concealment. Although the historical existence of the ninjatō is debated, it is often portrayed as the primary weapon of ninjas for quick draw and surprise attacks during covert missions.
